History Matters publishes historic books and artwork for children and people of all ages. Our books are available directly from us or at 75 historic sites.
This company is dedicated to teaching our nation's past to everyone, especially our youth. As well as teaching, we wish to preserve our country's important sites where the future of our nation was decided. If we do not, future generations will not be able to learn why America is what it is today. (To learn more about historical preservation, visit The Civil War Preservation Trust). For this reason, a portion of the profits from our products will be given to save our precious sites where history changed the course of our nation.
History Matters Publications is located in historic central Pennsylvania. In nearby Altoona, the War Governors' Conference of 1862 took place. It was here that governors of northern states pledged their allegience to President Abraham Lincoln and the country. The author is taking part in a new project to create a museum in commemoration of this important event and other local Civil War connections.
Altoona was also once the biggest railroad city in the world. Thousands of locomotives and railroad cars were made and repaired there. The Railroaders' Memorial Museum tells the stories of the men and women that made the city such a well known rail town. We are also near Fort Roberdeau, a historic Revolutionary War fort built in 1778 to mine lead for continental bullets and to protect nearby settlers from British attacks.
Together with us, you can help us teach and preserve history!
